Artist Talk mit Fadi al-Hamwi, Funda Özgünaydin, Partnerperformer Macbook pro von Marijana Radovic und den beiden Kuratorinnen von Vacancies! Julia Zieger & Kathrin Pohlmann
Fadi Al-Hamwi ist ein syrischer Maler, Video- und Installationskünstler. Er studierte Öl- und Wandmalerei in Damaskus. Er hat Installationen in diversen Galerien und Studios in Beirut und Damaskus produziert. Seine Arbeiten wurden u.a. in Damaskus, Beirut, Dubai, Kanada, London, Washington, Deutschland und Kopenhagen gezeigt.

Funda Özgünaydins arbeitet mit einem breiten Spektrum an Medien – Selbstportrait, Perfomance, Collagen und Videocollagen – um einen kulturellen Raum von Referenzen zu erschaffen, der ihr unmittelbares Umfeld kritisch reflektiert. Es existieren zwei Kernkonzepte, die für die Künstlerin Sprungbrett sind, um den künstlerischen Prozess zu eröffnen: soziale Strukturen & der Kreislauf von Leben und Tod bringen Kompositionen von Gegensätzen hervor, die sich gegen festgefahrene Prinzipen richten. Zwischenräume zu durchbrechen, Brücken zu bauen, Kontraste zu sammeln um etwas Neues, Utopisches und manchmal sogar Ironisches hervorzubringen.
Marjana Radovic studierte Illustration an der Kunsthochschule in Belgrad und Digitale Medien an der HFK in Bremen. Sie hat in Belgrad, Bremen, Berlin, Sinai, auf Instagram und im lokalen amerikanischen Fernsehen ausgestellt.

Fadi Al-Hamwi is a Syrian painter, video and istallation artist. He graduated from Damascus University in 2010. He participated in numerous international collective exhibitions and produced installations in several galleries and studios in Damascus and Beirut.

Funda Özgünaydin ́s practice is based on the tradition of performance to which life is drawn upon and translated in an ongoing process of experiential assimilation. As such the artist employs a wide range of media—selfportrait, performance, collages and video collage—to create a cultural space of references that reflect critically on the immediate society around her. There are two main conceptual starting points, which Funda considers as a jumping board in order to open up an artistic process. Social structure & cycle of life and death, bringing out compositions of opposites and against gridlocked principles. Breaking through intermediates spaces, building bridges, gathering contrasts in order to create something anew, utopian and sometimes even ironically.

Marijana Radovic (in the talk represented by her laptop) studied Illustration at the University of Arts in Belgrade and Digital media at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen, Germany. She has so far exhibited in Belgrade, Bremen, Berlin, Sinai, Tumblr, Instagram and local American TV.
