In dieser Ausstellung wird der Raum als Lounge oder als „Downtime Salon“ dargestellt, der widerspiegelt, wie Klang, Licht und räumliches Mapping eingesetzt werden, um für den*die Besucher*in Sphären der Resonanz zu schaffen. Diese Sphären verbinden physische Wesen in einer öffentlichen Umgebung und formen einen performativen Zeit-Raum von Zwischenmomenten, in dem sich ein gleichzeitiges Gefühl von Nichts und Alles entfaltet.“ Nile Koetting

Für POLYHARMONY entsteht in der Galerie Wedding eine Lounge oder „Downtime Salon“ um aufzuzeigen, wie Klang, Licht und räumliches Design eingesetzt werden können, um Resonanzräume zu schaffen. Der Begriff „Polyharmony“ bezieht sich auf eine Struktur, in der zwei oder mehr musikalische Harmonien gleichzeitig erklingen. Koetting spiegelt die japanische Kultur, in welcher sehr viel Wert daraufgelegt wird, dass Situationen harmonisch ablaufen, was durch Redewendungen wie „die Luft lesen“ vermittelt wird. Wenn jemand nicht im Einklang ist, ist diese Person jemand „der die Luft nicht lesen kann“.

Die Ausstellung schafft eine Atmosphäre der Achtsamkeit, die Wege zu verschiedenen Arten des Zuhörens aufzeigt, in der eine Vielzahl von Tönen Vibrationen in ständigem Fluss erzeugt. Im Raum gibt es mehrere Werke, die diese Atmosphäre mitgestalten: eine Maschine, die trinkbares Wasser aus der Luft erzeugt, Ikebana-Blumenarrangements und eine Klanglandschaft, die aus einer entschärften Komposition besteht und in Mustern des endlosen Wartens zirkuliert. Koettings Ausstellung POLYHARMONY ist eine Zusammenarbeit mit dem Berliner Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop.

For POLYHARMONY, a lounge or „downtime salon“ is being created at Galerie Wedding to demonstrate how sound, light and spatial design can be used to create resonant spaces. The term „polyharmony“ refers to a structure in which two or more musical harmonies sound simultaneously. Koetting reflects Japanese culture, where great importance is placed on situations being harmonious, conveyed by phrases such as „reading the air“. If someone is not in harmony, that person is someone „who cannot read the air“.

The exhibition creates an atmosphere of mindfulness that shows ways to different ways of listening, where a variety of sounds create vibrations in constant flux. There are several works in the space that help create this atmosphere: a machine that creates drinkable water from the air, Ikebana flower arrangements and a soundscape consisting of a defused composition that circulates in patterns of endless waiting. Koetting’s exhibition POLYHARMONY is a collaboration with the Berlin soloist ensemble Kaleidoskop.
