Ausstellung und Re-Schooling Programm

The Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art (SCCA Tamale), Red Clay und Nkrumah Voli-ni, Tamale, Ghana

Das einjährige Kunstprojekt begann 2021 in Berlin und gipfelt in einer internationalen Ausstellung im Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art (SCCA Tamale) in Tamale, Ghana, die im Januar 2022 eröffnet wird. Ausgehend von der Idee, dass wir nicht zu einer „Normalität“ vor der Krise zurückkehren wollen, wurden die Künstler*innen Isabel Lewis (The Institute for Embodied Creative Practices, Callie’s, Berlin) und Ibrahim Mahama (Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art/ SCCA Tamale) eingeladen, das Projekt mit zu kuratieren und zu moderieren. Während Lewis‘ Performances, situative Arbeiten und Choreografien unsere Beziehung und Vorstellung von Zusammensein verändern, um uns zu mehr Intimität untereinander zu verhelfen, überdenkt Mahama unsere Beziehung zu Material und Geschichte. Das Kuratorinnenteam hat mit allen eingeladenen Künstler*innen zusammengearbeitet, um eine Vision davon zu entwickeln, wie wir in materieller und relationaler Hinsicht anders existieren können.

Exhibition and Re-Schooling Programme

The Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art (SCCA Tamale), Red Clay and Nkrumah Voli-ni, Tamale, Ghana

The one-year-long art project started in Berlin in 2021 and culminates in an international final exhibition at Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art (SCCA Tamale) in Tamale, Ghana, opening in January 2022. Based on the idea that we do not want to return to any „normality“ before the crisis, the artists Isabel Lewis (The Institute for Embodied Creative Practices, Callie’s, Berlin) and Ibrahim Mahama (Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art/ SCCA Tamale) have been invited to co-curate and co-host the project. Whereas Lewis‘ performances, hostings, and choreographies transform our relation and idea of being together in order to help us to gain more intimacy among each other, Mahama rethinks our relation with material and history. The curatorial team have been working among all invited artists to form a vision of how we can exist otherwise, materially and relationally.
