Ein Film von Alexandra Henao Alexandra Henao zeigt in ihrem Dokumentarfilm Kuyujani Envenenado, (Kuyujani vergiftet), der zwischen 2010 und 2016 gedreht wurde, den Kampf der Indigenen Völker der Yekuana und Sanema. Sie kämpfen, um ihr drohendes Verschwinden zu verhindern, das durch den Ökozid des Tagebaus verursacht wird, welcher mit der Komplizenschaft der Regierung und des venezolanischen Militärs durchgeführt wird. Für diese Arbeit erhielt Alexandra Henao den Preis für Best Andean Documentary im Wettbewerb des Festival Documenta 2017, den besten Dokumentarfilm im venezolanischen Film Festival in New York und eine lobende Erwähnung im Festival Caracas DOC 2016. Sie haben es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, die Region südlich des Orinoco-Flusses zu dokumentieren und eine gründliche Diagnose durchzuführen, um das Bewusstsein für die sich abspielende Umwelt-Tragödie zu schärfen und die dringenden Maßnahmen zu skizzieren, die ergriffen werden müssen, um diese Katastrophe zu stoppen. SOS Orinoco arbeiten anonym, aufgrund des hohen Risikos, das mit ihrer Art von Forschung in Venezuela verbunden ist. SOS Orinoco hat die Zusammenarbeit und Interaktion zwischen der Künstlerin Ana Alenso und dem SOS Orinoco-Expert*innenteam (Geograph*innen, Biolog*innen, Geolog*innen u.a.) ermöglicht, die ihr Wissen, Satellitenbilder, Karten und andere Forschungsmaterialien erklärt und geteilt haben. A film by Alexandra Henao Alexandra Henao, in her feature documentary Poisoning Kuyujani, shot between 2010 and 2016, shows the struggle of the Yekuana and Sanema indigenous peoples to avoid their imminent disappearance, caused by the ecocide of open-pit mining executed with the complicity of the government and the Venezuelan military.  For this work, Alexandra Henao received the award for Best Andean Documentary in the Franco-Andean contest Documenta 2017, Best Documentary in the Venezuelan Film Festival in New York, and Honorable Mention in Caracas DOC 2016 Festival. They work anonymously, due to the high risk involved in this type of research in Venezuela. Their commitment has been to document and carry out an in-depth diagnosis of the region south of the Orinoco River and to raise awareness of the tragedy that is taking place, as well as to outline the urgent measures that must be taken to stop this disaster. SOS Orinoco has facilitated the collaboration and interaction between artist Ana Alenso and the SOS Orinoco team of experts (geographers, biologists, geologists, among others) who have explained and shared their knowledge, satellite images, maps and other research materials.
