Rückblick auf die Reise nach Ghana und Community Event mit Jollof Reis am 26.02. 2022, 14 bis 17 Uhr
Die Künstler*innen und Kurator*innen werden anwesend sein und kurze Präsentationen über ihre Projekte in Tamale halten.
Vom Wedding nach Westafrika! Die umfangreiche Ausstellung „Existing Otherwise – The Future of Coexistence“ mit 16 Künstlerinnen und Künstlern, die in Ghana und Deutschland leben, an drei architektonisch sehr individuellen, aber auch miteinander verbundenen Orten in Tamale ist der Höhepunkt eines einjährigen Kunstprojekts und künstlerischen Austauschs zwischen Berlin-Wedding und Tamale. Durchgeführt wird das Projekt von der Galerie Wedding – Raum für zeitgenössische Kunst, XO Curatorial Projects, SCCA Tamale, Red Clay Studio, Nkrumah Voli-ni und dem Institute for Embodied Creative Practices im Callie’s Berlin. Als die Galerie Wedding aufgrund des pandemiebedingten wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Zusammenbruchs ihren Hauptausstellungsraum für 1,5 Jahre an das Sozialamt in Berlin-Mitte abgeben musste, verlegten wir das künstlerische Programm auf den Rathausvorplatz, zu unseren Nachbar*innen im Callie’s und dann nach Ghana. Während die Folgen der COVID-19-Pandemie das Reisen, die Kommunikation, die Verwaltung internationaler Kunstprojekte sowie den künstlerischen Austausch und die Inspiration weiterhin herausfordern, dient das Programm in Tamale und Berlin dazu, diesen zu widerstehen und neue, nachhaltige Wege des internationalen Ausstellungsmachens und der gemeinschaftlichen Vision zu verfolgen.

The artists and curators will be present and give short presentations about their projects in Tamale.
From Wedding to Westafrica! The extensive exhibition “Existing Otherwise – The Future of Coexistence” with 16 artists, Ghana and Germany based, at three architecturally very individual, but also interconnected venues in Tamale is the culmination of a one-year art project and artistic exchange between Berlin-Wedding and Tamale. The project is carried out by Galerie Wedding – Raum für zeitgenössische Kunst, XO Curatorial Projects, SCCA Tamale, Red Clay Studio, Nkrumah Voli-ni, und The Institute for Embodied Creative Practices at Callie’s Berlin. When Galerie Wedding had to give up its main exhibition space to the Sozialamt in Berlin-Mitte for 1.5 years due to the economic and social collapse caused by the pandemic, we moved the artistic programme to the Rathausvorplatz (square in front of the town hall), to our neighbours at Callie’s and then to Ghana. While the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to challenge traveling, communication, administration of international art projects as well as artistic exchange and inspiration, the programme in Tamale und Berlin serves to resist these and pursue new, sustainable ways of international exhibition making and communal envisioning.

Im Ausstellungsraum besteht die Pflicht, eine FFP2-Maske zu tragen. Wir empfehlen, einen Mindestabstand von 1,5 Metern einzuhalten. Während Veranstaltungen ist eine dritte (“booster”) Impfung notwendig, oder alternativ das Vorweisen eines negativen Antigen-Tests zusätzlich zur Impfung (Testergebnis nicht älter als 24 Stunden). *** It is compulsory to wear an FFP2 mask in the exhibition space. We recommend keeping a minimum distance of 1.5 metres. During events, a third vaccination (“booster”) is required or presentation of a negative Antigen-Test, no older than 24 hours.
