A Sensation of a Truth (über den Blick und seine Wirkung auf das menschliche Verhalten) ist eine dialogische Arbeit über die Wahrnehmung des eigenen Ichs in Bezug auf die damit verbundenen Etiketten. Betrachtet wird das politische, soziale und persönliche Verständnis, wie Äußerlichkeiten, kultureller Hintergrund und Mode im erweiterten Sinne wahrgenommen werden und unser Verhalten prägen. Eine Auswirkung ist, dass wir isoliert, eingeschränkt, kontrolliert oder beobachtet werden. Die Art und Weise, wie Schwarze und queere Körper den Blicken und Zuschreibungen begegnen, mit denen sie konfrontiert werden, ist ein Schwerpunkt von Kevin Bononos Arbeit.

In seiner langjährigen Beschäftigung mit dem Blick untersucht Bonono die verschiedenen Codes und das Vokabular, das Minderheiten verwenden – oder manchmal vermissen – um sich zu erkennen. Dieses Vokabular ist Teil eines größeren Kampfes um Identität.

Kevin Bonono, geboren 1992 in Amiens, Frankrich, zog später nach Kamerun, seinem Herkunftsland, wo er 12 Jahre lang lebte. Derzeit lebt er in Berlin. Im Jahr 2015 begann Kevin Bonono seine künstlerische Ausbildung im Bereich Tanz und Darstellende Kunst und arbeitete mit Künstler:innen wie Federica Dauri, Stefano Taiuti, Danilo Colonna, Isabel Lewis und vielen anderen zusammen. Bonono beginnt seine Karriere als Autor im Jahr 2015, indem er seine erste Solo-Performance mit dem Titel „ENIGMA“ inszeniert und aufführt, in der er sich mit der Kraft von Ritualen beschäftigt. Im Laufe der Jahre inszenierte er eine weitere performative Arbeit mit dem Titel „Instinct“, in der er die emotionale und physische Reaktion des Körpers in einem Ausnahmezustand analysiert.
Wichtig sind auch die künstlerische Zusammenarbeit mit Nezaket Ekici und Shahar Marcus für das „Honey Project“ in der Ostrale, Beyond constructed remains von Shiran Eliaserov und die Kontorsionistin Jade Lee Peterson. Bonono erforscht und befragt in seiner performativen Recherche seine Umgebung, eine Recherche über seine eigene Intimsphäre und über seine Interpretation und Beziehung zur Außenwelt.
„Ich verbinde immer meine Lebenserfahrungen mit meinen Performances, denn das ist für mich die einzige Möglichkeit, ehrlich und wahrhaftig zu bleiben. Performance-Kunst ist eine Möglichkeit, sich jenseits von Worten auszudrücken. Weiter zu gehen. Sie gibt mir ein größeres Spektrum an Verständnis und Interaktion innerhalb der Sphäre, die ich erschaffe. Eine Freiheit, Ausdruck zu sein.“

Sofia Skir wurde an der Westküste Schwedens in Göteborg geboren. Im Jahr 2013 zog sie nach Berlin, wo sie derzeit lebt. Schon in jungen Jahren widmete sich Sofia Skir dem Tanz und der Musik, entschied sich aber später für ein akademisches Studium der Ethnologie, Philosophie und Literatur.
Während sie sich auf ihre akademischen Studien konzentrierte, nahm sie an Performances mit Tanz, Theater und Musik in Berlin und Skandinavien teil. Ihr letzter Auftritt war 2019 bei Berlin Atonal, wo sie in Soho Rezanejads Stück Crow Without Mouth auftrat.
Seitdem hat Sofia Sound studiert und arbeitet derzeit an ihren eigenen Produktionen, in denen sie mit elektronisch basierten Sounds und ihrem eigenen Gesang experimentiert. Ihr marokkanisches und schwedisches Erbe hat einen großen Einfluss auf ihre Arbeit, in der sie Themen wie Identität und Zugehörigkeit erforscht, da sie zwischen gemischten Kulturen aufgewachsen ist.

A Sensation of a Truth (about the gaze and it effect on human behavior) is a conversational work about the perception of one self in relation to the etiquettes attached to it. Taking into consideration the political, social, and personal overview of how appearances, cultural background and fashion in the larger sense are appraised and shape our behavior. The outcome is being isolated, restricted, controlled or watched. The way Black and queer bodies face the gazes and attributions that address them are a preoccupation of Kevin Bonono’s work.

Through a longstanding engagement with gaze, Bonono studies the different codes and vocabulary that minorities use – or sometimes lack – to recognise one another. This vocabulary is part of a larger identity struggle.

Kevin Bonono, born in 1992 in Amiens, France,subsequently moved to Cameroon, country of origin where he lived up to 12 years. Currently based in Berlin. In 2015 Kevin started his artistic formation investigating in the field of dance and performing art, collaborating with artists such as Federica Dauri, Stefano Taiuti, Danilo Colonna, Isabel Lewis and many others, focusing on improving his technical and compositional methodology. Bonono begins his career as an author, in 2015, directing and performing his first solo performance called “ENIGMA” in which he investigates on the power of rituals. Further in the years he directed another performative work called “Instinct” in which he analyzes  the emotional  and physical reaction of the body in a a state of emergency.
Important are as well the artistic collaboration with the artists Nezaket Ekici and Shahar Marcus for the “Honey Project” at the Ostrale, Beyond constructed remains by Shiran Eliaserov and the contortionist Jade Lee Peterson. Bonono in his performative research investigates and questions himself on his surroundings, a research on his own intimate and on his interpretation and relationship with the outside world.
“I always connect my life experiences with my performances because for me is the only way to stay honest and true to myself. Performance art is a way to express beyond words. Push further. It gives me a larger spectrum of understanding and interacting within the sphere I create.
A freedom to be an expression.“

Sofia Skir was born on the West Coast of Sweden in Gothenburg. In 2013, she moved to Berlin where she is currently based. From a very young age, Sofia dedicated her time to dance and music but later on chose to invest her time to Academic studies within Ethnology, philosophy and literature.
While focusing on her academic studies she participated in performances involving dance, theatre and music in Berlin and Scandinavia.
Her latest performance was in 2019 at Berlin Atonal where she performed in Soho Rezanejad’s piece Crow Without Mouth. 
Since then Sofia has studied sound and is currently working on her own productions where she experiments with electronic based sounds and her own vocals. Her Moroccan and Swedish heritage has had a huge impact on her work, exploring themes of identity and belonging as she has grown up between mixed cultures.
