Die Auseinandersetzung mit evolutionären Entwicklungen in Relation zur menschlichen Erfahrbarkeit ist ein wiederkehrendes Motiv in der künstlerischen Arbeit Mariana Castillo Deballs. Die Annäherung an Evolutionsprozesse geschieht dabei aus vielerlei wissenschaftlicher und praktischer Richtungen: die der Archäologie, Paläontologie, Ethnografie und Geschichte. Was prägt unser Verständnis von Zeit und unseren Blick auf die Entstehungsgeschichte?
Der Rundgang durch die Ausstellung lädt ein, gemeinsam mit der Künstlerin und der Kuratorin den Entwicklungsprozess vom Fisch zum Vogel zu erkunden, der durch die Installation ‚Pleasures of Association, and Poissons, such as Love‘ in den Räumen der Galerie Wedding erfahrbar ist. Diese begehbare Darstellung eines Zeitraumes von über 200 Millionen Jahren fragt nach den hinterlassenen Spuren eines Prozesses jenseits der Menschheitsgeschichte und der Einordnung ihrer Bedeutung.

On October 19th at 5pm artist Mariana Castillo Deball and curator Solvej Helweg Ovesen give a tour through the exhibition Pleasures of Association, and Poissons, such as Love–. The exhibition is staged within the frame of UP (Unsustainable Privileges) and curated by Solvej Helweg Ovesen und Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung.
The examination of evolutionary processes in relation to human understanding is a reoccurring theme in Mariana Castillo Deball’s artistic practice. The artist’s approach incorporates several scientific perspectives such as the archeological, paleontological, ethnographic and historical. What shapes our understanding of time and our perspective on the development of species?
The tour through the exhibition invites you to explore together with the artist and the curator the development from fish to bird that is presented within the installation of ‚Pleasures of Association, and Poissons, such as Love‘ at Galerie Wedding. Thee experience of a timeframe expanding over 200 Million years questions the traces of a process that has happened long before human existence and the classification of its meaning.
